RUM CREAM LAYER CAKE*
The scent of orange and zing of rum.
Thin, rum-brushed layers of white cake amply filled with rummy whipped cream and delicately iced with my new favorite bittersweet chocolate icing. This cake is rich with flavor yet light in texture.
MISS LEWIS'S DARK CHOCOLATE CAKE
The Best Chocolate Cake Ever. Deeply flavored and sophisticated. Filled and iced with silky dark chocolate ganache.
Raspberry preserves are a yummy alternative and makes a festive cake. White chocolate ganache or vanilla buttercream is a delish and pretty option.
CARROT CAKE OF THE RENAISSANCE
A comforting carrot-hazelnut cake enhanced with Frangelico liqueur. Finished with not-too-sweet cream cheese icing and a generous amount of toasted hazelnuts.
HONEY-LAVENDER CAKE
A rich and dreamy sour cream vanilla cake with substance-- iced with Lavender & Honey buttercream. She's a beauty.
An option would be cream cheese or vanilla buttercream icing for a simply divine cake for tea.
PINK & WHITE CAKE
Inspired by the little cakes my grandmother used to make for her Sunday School kids birthdays. Sour Cream Cake filled and iced with pale pink-tinted vanilla buttercream or fresh strawberry cream cheese icing. Can be filled with fresh strawberries when in season.

GENTLEMAN'S YELLOW CAKE
Cake nostalgia across generations. A traditional rich, yellow, butter cake with chocolate American Buttercream Icing--the Confectioner's sugar one we all grew up with.
VELVET RED VELVET CAKE
The classic and beauteous wine-red cake with magnolia white cream cheese icing.
JULIAS LEMON BUTTERMILK CAKE
Pale yellow perfection. Lovely, light, lemon layers filled with lemon curd brightness and iced with lemon buttercream.
ORANGE MARMALADE CAKE
Another brilliant recipe from Miss Edna Lewis. Orange syrup soaked cake layers, filled with orange marmalade and iced with whipped cream + sour cream. Another layer of marmalade on top makes a pretty orange and white presentation.
CHRISTINE'S COCONUT CAKE
Based on Christine Stocks' very famous coconut icebox cake.
White cake layers smeared with whipped-cream-sour-cream and coconut. Filled and iced with coconut scented whipped cream. Lots of coconut inside and out.
GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE.
You know this one and may be desperately missing it. Like me!
My version is the traditional light chocolate cake filled and topped with the classic coconut pecan filling. Because I am nuts for chocolate, I ice the sides of this cake with chocolate ganache. But I don't have to. Your choice.

Layers of my sour cream cake filled with fresh whipped mascarpone.
and lightly iced "Naked Cake" style.
Seasonal fresh fruit is a lovely addition .

My signature cake. Bright, fresh, lemon pound cake baked in bundt or tube shape. The delight is in the tart and slightly crunchy lemon-sugar glaze.

If orange is your thing. (Orange is my thing.) This is a light and demure cake yet plenty orangey. Frosted with orange zested whipped cream.
Might I suggest serving this with blue, black, or rasberries on the side?
STILL LIFE FIG CAKE
An heirloom recipe from down east. Made from homemade fig preserves and baked with pecans and candied citrus peel. Scuppernong grapes when in season.
Un-iced or simply glazed.
This cake can be made as a layer cake with cream cheese icing.
(Why Still Life? All the fruits, and peels, and sweetmeats in this cake recall 16th Century Dutch Still Lifes. I am an Art Nerd.)
BROWN SUGAR POUND CAKE
Indeed a pound of brown sugar and a cup of pecans in each cake. Coffee-Whisky glazed. Pound cake perfection for after dinner with brandy & cigars.

SUZIE'S TEXAS SHEET CAKE
A dark and plenty chocolatey cake. Finished with poured chocolate & pecan icing. I'm not drawn to sheet cake for aesthetic reasons but this is a favorite for sure--just soooooo yummy . A recipe from my Austin bakery days. Great for a potluck or casual gathering. Size varies thus price also varies. Let's discuss it.
